Street & Nye
The next morning after our Whiteface & Esther adventure in the snow we decided to hit the trail early to hit 2 more peaks. Street and Nye. The weather forecast was not calling for a very night sunny day and we felt these peaks were most appropriate given their lack of views.
This was also is one of the few shorter hikes in the Adirondacks to hit 2 peaks so it was a good one to hit before we both had a long drive back to New Hampshire.
We arrived at the Loj, where we packed up and hit the trail towards our peaks. We were both feeling awfully sluggish this day but managed to still keep a good pace. The herd path leading to our first peak was quite interesting. At one point near where the trail follows the river uphill we somehow took another herd path off the actual trail.
We found our way back to the trail again and continued onward and upward. On our way up to the junction for Nye, it was a constant of wet slick muddy train conditions and lots of crawling over and under of fallen trees. It really got to a point where crawling over trees became exhausting and quite frankly annoying. Making me appreciate our amazing trail system in New Hampshire.
We finally made it to Nye, quickly took our photo and had someone take one of the two of us and we headed back towards the junction. From here we just continued to push towards Street. Passing many others coming down, we made it to this summit fairly quickly. We met a couple up here who told us to go check out a small lookout point just past the summit. It was cool, but it wasn't spectacular.
Once we did that and took a few photos, we continued down. We were ready to be back at the car. We did managed to grab some amazing cheese burgers from the LOJ food shack. They were actually really freaking good!
Then we hit the road back home on our full bellies!
Street & Nye, you were only meh in my book. Sorry to disappoint.
