I will be updating shortly. Please stay tuned for the next exciting blog post. Many changes in my life have happened in the last 9 months and I can't wait to share a few of them.
"And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair." I have finally hiked the one trail on Mount Washington I have been avoiding for a long time. Huntington Ravine. This trail, according to the AMC White Mountain Guide is the "Hardest trail in the White Mountains." Many, claim it to be incredibly difficult, dangerous, and essentially rock climbing without the ropes. The Mount Washington Observatory hosts their largest fundraiser in July every year for the last 15 years. This even is a hike-a-thon to raise money for the nonprofit, member supported MWOBS. I have participated in this event my first year working for them and now I am participating again this year. On July 18th, Trish, myself, Alex, Sage, Hugh, Josh, John, and Jeremy decided as a team we wanted to ascend Huntington Ravine for Seek the Peak. Most of us had yet to hike this trail and were all ready to see what the big talk was all about. ...
It's Wednesday morning and it is the start of my 5 days off. I have been looking forward to today for a few months now. Josh and I booked a night stay up at Doublehead Cabin. The closer the days crept up the worse and worse the forecast looked. Josh had been spending nights in this Cabin for most of his life. I wanted to give it a try. Winter camping in a cabin that even has a woodstove and is only a 2 mile hike in from the car- Sounds like my kind of winter overnight. I purchased a bundle of kindling to pack up to the cabin on Wednesday morning. I filled my entire 65L pack with that plus some basic water and snacks to get my through the hike. The forecast was looking interesting to say the least. Snow in the early morning with temperature warming up and turning to rain. Pouring. wet, rain throughout the afternoon. With a chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Josh asked me if I still wanted to go, I replied "ABSOLUTELY". We packed our packs the night before s...

While on our Violet City lantern lit cave tour in Mammoth our guide suggest we visit a place called Cahokia Mounds. So this was our first pit stop in Illinois technically. On top of Monks Mound Cahoki Mounds As we were driving to this place, we literally drove through the ghetto. It was quite sketchy, graffiti written all over everything, run down houses, torn up fences, and police cruiser everywhere I looked. Totally, not sure our guide knew where he was taking us. Not feeling too confident about this place any more. Art in Chicago Oh LOOK! There it is! From the rough neighborhood streets to this beautiful piece of land. We finally arrived. Parked the car and made our way into the visitor center. It is technically free to visit, but they do have a donation box. We donated a few dollars for our visit and asked the park ranger for infor...
